Part of our role at Cadwyn is to enable our tenants and community members to realise their full potential through education, training and employment; and we ask our suppliers to work in partnership with us to achieve this aim.   We do this by supporting our contractors to offer work experience and apprenticeship opportunities as part of their agreement with us.

We also support individuals to identify and apply for appropriate roles with our contractors, offering ongoing mentorship wherever it’s needed in conjunction with Realise Your Potential.

We work regularly with The Prince’s Trust to run local Get Into Construction courses. These are three-week courses aimed at disengaged young people; they cover general employability skills as well as construction specific training. All participants end the course having undertaken the necessary qualifications to apply for their CSCS cards and are offered an interview with a local employer and/or apprenticeship scheme.

Here’s some of the opportunities that we’ve been able to offer local people:

Willis Contractors

Three work experience placements and three apprenticeships

Dawnus Construction

Two full time groundsworker roles

Can Do Contractors

One work experience placement

NU Life Workshop

A week’s work placement for 16 young people

AP Electrical

One Jobs Growth Wales placement

To find out about opportunities as they arise, make sure you’re following Cadwyn on Twitter and Facebook, and check these pages regularly!
