Cadwyn’s hostel for families is celebrating its 10th anniversary this November.
Nightingale House opened in 2005 and provides safe, temporary accommodation for homeless families in need of support referred by Cardiff Council.
A celebration party was held at St Peters Church Hall for past and present residents and staff as well as partner organisations and stakeholders.
Chris O’Meara, Chief Executive of Cadwyn Housing Association said: “It was great to see so many ex residents whose lives had improved as a result of their stay in Nightingale House. Becoming homeless can happen to anyone, and having access to the help you need at the time you need it is critical to getting back on your feet.”
Residents commemorated the anniversary by creating a picture mosaic with the help of Barry Akins of Polytypic Arts who has been running sessions at Nightingale House for the last 10 years. They are also in the process of making a patchwork quilt, with each patch being lovingly crafted by residents and staff.
