We’d like to congratulate Dan Kirk for finding employment with St Giles Trust after undertaking a work placement with our employment support scheme Realise Your Potential.
Dan recently contacted us to explain how he felt after receiving our support:
“Before coming to Cadwyn, I had been unemployed for a period of 5 years. My confidence was at an all time low and was lacking the motivation to get out of the situation I was in.
I came across Cadwyn through a placement scheme with the St Giles Trust. The role was as an Advisor as part of the Realise Your Potential team.
Delyth, Alessa and the other Cadwyn staff, provided so much support for my role. I was shown new processes, given loads of training and there was always somebody willing to help with any difficulties I faced.
.
During my time there, I learnt many new skills, covering a wide range of different areas. I gained knowledge and experience in securing opportunities for people in paid employment, training and voluntary roles. To be able to help people directly in this manner and make a difference in their lives was incredibly rewarding. Some of the other things I loved about working for Cadwyn were the friendly atmosphere the sheer variety of the work available. I got to work with different individuals with a really diverse set of needs and no two days were ever the same
Since finishing in Cadwyn, I now have started a new career as an Employment Support Worker and am doing a course in Counselling Skills in the new academic year.
None of this would have been possible without the support provided by Cadwyn on the Realise Your Potential scheme. It has significantly benefited my future employment chances, giving me transferable skills and fantastic experience. My confidence has returned and I now have a much better understanding about what I want in a job role, with the motivation to purse it. The situation I was in, just a few months ago, seems very far away now and I have got high hopes for the future.”
Delyth Teifi Employment and Training Advisor said:
” We are very proud of the progress Dan has made in the past few months. He proved to be a valuable part of the team during his placement with Realise Your Potential and I’m sure that he will play an important role working for St Giles trust.
We wish him all the best at his new job and when starting his course at University.”
