The Equality and Diversity group at Cadwyn has today launched its heritage project ‘Our Cardiff’. The project aims to collate stories and experiences of residents living in one of Cardiff’s oldest multi-ethnic communities. Butetown is one of the areas in Cardiff Bay, that welcomed people from over 50 counties with sailors and workers settling in the mid-1900s.
‘Our Cardiff’ reaches out to communities to share their stories to discover what people perceive heritage, belonging and home to be. We will draw upon the voices of Butetown residents and use their stories as an inspiration to create a mural. The mural will be commissioned to a local artist and represent the diverse communities. The mural will be placed in a communal areas in Butetown for all to see.
The Equality and Diversity group, created by Cadwyn, is an ever growing group of innovative people (staff and tenants) who are passionate about providing opportunities for communities in Cardiff to tell their stories and help create an even more equal and diverse city.
